The StreetRight Process

Importing can seem complicated, but here at StreetRight, we make it easy. Therefore, we are committed to providing the utmost transparency throughout this process. We’re going to break down the entire StreetRight process step-by-step! Our process is simple and straightforward with only 10 steps!

1: REach out!

To begin the process, please reach out to us at one of our emails. Within the email, you must please state the desired vehicle, preferred qualities/conditions, and location in the US. We will respond ASAP within our business hours to ensure a smooth and efficient process. We will review your request, provide available options, and guide you through the next steps

2: Quote

Once we get an idea of your preferences and what you are looking for, we will issue you a general quote with a pricing breakdown and an estimated price for your selected vehicle or item. The quote will be of the estimated entire cost, including shipping, in-land transport (in Japan), customs fees, etc.

3: down payment

In order to begin bidding/vehicle reservation, we require a down payment of $1,000. The down payment will contribute to the final purchase, as with any down payment.

4: Sourcing

With an idea of your preferences and what you have in mind, we will hand select a variety of options and examples currently available in Japan. We are able to purchase vehicles from private sellers, dealerships, and auctions

5: Payment

Once we find a vehicle you are happy with, we will issue an official invoice with the final price. This price includes the vehicle, shipping, insurance, pickup, titling, and taxes.

6: shipping

Once the vehicle arrives at the designated port, we wait for available space. For the most part, the vehicle will be placed on a Roll-On Roll-Off (RORO) ship, meaning that it’ll be driven on and off the ship as a means of loading.

The timeframe on this varies, as RORO ships depart at various times during the month. Once we find an available ship, we will send you the name of the ship and the expected date of departure and arrival. Using the name of your ship, you will be able to track the location of your ship with various online shipping trackers.

7: Boat-Time

Now for the most challenging part of the process: Waiting!! Travel time depends on where you’re located. On average, it takes 45 days for a vessel to travel from Japan to Baltimore. During this time, the vessel will stop at various different ports in order to refuel and drop off/load vehicles.

8: titling

As the vehicle nears the destination port, we will provide a title for your vehicle. We then will provide you with the title for you to register/insure the vehicle. This will allow you to register/insure your vehicle upon arrival, meaning that you can drive off with your new import!

9: Arrives at Port

Once the vehicle arrives at the port, we will get an official notice notifying of its release. It’ll take a couple days after arrival for the vehicle to be cleared to be picked up. Once cleared, we will pick up the vehicle from the port and notify you

10: pick up

Coordinate your pick up date and time! Please keep in mind, port authority gives roughly one week of free storage at the port before fees begin incurring. For an additional fee, we can arrange shipping within the lower 48 states.
